UNB’s faculty of management held a memorable reunion for alumni of its graduate programs on Feb. 21 at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Hosted by the Graduate Management Student Society (GMSS), the event was the largest reunion of current graduate students and alumni the faculty has ever organized in Fredericton. Over 100 attendees from Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John, as well as faculty and staff, gathered amidst beautiful artwork and the soothing sounds of the Don Bossé Jazz quartet.
Shabda Verma, President of the GMSS and MBA candidate, shared, “Everyone loved the venue, and the jazz music was a nice surprise to them. Many said they didn’t expect the event to be this elegant. Students enjoyed meeting so many alumni of our programs and hearing their stories.”
Aimée Foreman (MBA ’01), CEO and founder of Silvermark, delivered an inspiring talk about her career path, the importance of community values and the opportunities available in New Brunswick. Her education in sociology and an MBA from UNB fueled her passion for social and economic impact, leading her to establish Silvermark, an advocacy group dedicated to redefining the senior care economy.
Foreman noted that New Brunswick is a small but mighty province, offering unique opportunities because of the power of community and connection. She encouraged students to build impactful networks and follow their values. Her message underscored the idea that everyone in this province just one degree of separation from each other, making it easier to bring the right people together to achieve big ideas.
The reunion not only celebrated the achievements of alumni but also reinforced the strong bonds within the faculty of management's alumni community. Overall, it was a night filled with joy, connection, and a deep sense of community.
