Dr. David Foord appointed Dean of UNB's Faculty of Management

The University of New Brunswick has appointed Dr. David Foord as dean of the faculty of management for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Dr. Foord brings extensive leadership experience to the role, having served as acting dean from July to December 2025. A faculty member in the management area, he is widely recognized for his teaching and research in entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability, as well as his commitment to student success and academic excellence.

"Dr. Foord has provided steady, thoughtful leadership and a strong commitment to advancing the faculty's priorities," said Dr. Petra Hauf, Provost and Vice-President Academic. "His collaborative approach, combined with deep institutional knowledge and an ability to connect academic and industry perspectives, positions the faculty well for continued growth and success."

Throughout his career at UNB, Dr. Foord has contributed to numerous university committees and external advisory boards. His accomplishments have been recognized through a range of awards celebrating excellence in teaching, research and service, including the UNB Student Union Red Award for Teaching Excellence (2021), UNB Teaching Scholar Award (2022), UNB Merit Award (2022), multiple Faculty of Management Excellence in Research Awards and the MBA Graduate Student Society Professor Recognition Award (2024).

As Dr. Foord assumes the role of dean, the university also recognizes the contributions of Dr. Devashis Mitra, whose term as dean concludes on June 30, 2026.

"Dr. Mitra has made a positive and lasting impact on the faculty and the entire UNB community," said Dr. Hauf. "We are grateful for his dedicated service and leadership."

As dean, Dr. Foord will help guide the faculty of management through its next chapter, building on its strengths in teaching, research and community engagement. His experience, academic leadership and commitment to innovation will support the faculty as it continues to create meaningful opportunities for students, faculty, staff and partners.
