Dr. Devashis Mitra’s term as dean of the UNB Faculty of Management has been extended for two years. His extension was recently announced by UNB’s Provost and Vice-President Academic, Dr. Petra Hauf:
“Dr. Mitra has been a dedicated member of the UNB community since 1991. Throughout this period, he has held various leadership roles. Appointed as dean in 2013, he has consistently advocated for the faculty of management, fostering an environment of support and collaboration.
During his tenure, the faculty of management achieved accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a significant milestone in the faculty’s strategic plan, Vision 2025. This accreditation places us among the top six per cent of business schools worldwide.
He also introduced new undergraduate experiential learning requirements and an MBA concentration in business analytics, which has helped the faculty grow in recent years.
Dr. Mitra will continue to work toward the remaining goals of the faculty’s strategic plan, including revamping the MBA program and contributing to the ongoing growth of enrollment and initiatives across the faculty.
Dr. Mitra holds a PhD in finance from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a BA in economics (honours) from St. Stephen’s College at Delhi University. He was awarded a fellow designation by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in India in 2009, and he has received two UNB Merit Awards for his contributions to teaching, research and university service.
Dr. Mitra’s term as dean will end on June 30, 2026.
