Aiden Conners has officially signed with UNB Saint John Seawolves Men’s Basketball. Since playing basketball from the age of 5, his biggest achievement was taking home a bronze medal with the U17 Team NB at the National Championships. He has played for Team NB for 3 years and would have committed a fourth year to the team had it not been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Aiden was a member of the Varsity team for all 4 years of high school and was a top scorer in grade 11. In addition to his athletic career at Simonds High he maintained high honors throughout his academic years and attended the NB Math Competition for 3 years.

“Basketball means so much to me because I love the competition and just how much fun I have when playing. I also love to win and that is something that makes me strive to be better.”

Aiden went with the choice of UNB Saint John as it has everything he needs and has the convenience of being able to stay close to home with friends and family. He feels that the opportunity to play for the Seawolves is another big reason for his decision. He has some goals for the upcoming season, and he is dedicated to putting in as much work as possible to get some minutes on the floor. His largest goal is to win, his appetite for competition will help him settle in well with the team and be a visible competitor.

Seawolves Head Coach, Peter Vincent has been aware of Aiden for quite some time and stayed in contact with the Simonds high coach who speaks very highly of him. Coach Vincent has seen him compete at the Varsity and U17 level and feels he is a solid athlete and a very solid student. Aiden is viewed as a strong and determined student athlete by Coach Vincent and he commends him for his focus and conditioning during grade 12 year. Being able to maintain that throughout a tough season shows a major commitment to his sport.

“Aiden will be a strong addition to our program and provide us with strong depth to an already talented team of players. We are hoping for big things from him next season and are excited to have him joining us.”

As Aiden begins his university career his focus will be the Bachelor of Science program and aspires to go on to Med school to become a Doctor. Aiden’s parents have been his number one supporter in everything he does. They have taught him so much through his experiences in life and through them he understands that working hard for something you want can lead to great success.

Welcome to the Seawolves Family Aiden!
