UNB takes home 70 per cent of awards at event celebrating New Brunswick innovators

On Nov. 22, entrepreneurs and innovators from the University of New Brunswick (UNB) took home 70 per cent of the awards at the inaugural InnovateNB Celebration for their future-forward businesses and services.
The InnovateNB Celebration is a day-long event held in Saint John to raise awareness of the most current innovative work taking place in New Brunswick. The event included an industry trade show, recruitment showcase, round table leadership sessions and a “meet the investors” session with venture capitalists and investors.
InnovateNB Celebration recognizes New Brunswick innovators across various sectors for their achievements and contributions in business, government, not-for-profits and academia.

- Emerging Innovator: Agunbiade Seun Richards - PhD student
- Premier’s Award for Innovation: MyHealthNB project - Jerome Foster (BBA'90) and Mark McAlister (BCS'01)
- Productivity Improvement by Adapting Technology: Saint John Energy – Ryan Mitchell, president and CEO, (BSE EE ’00)
- Innovation in Academia and Research: Zhen Lei - OSCO Research Chair in Offsite Construction
- Most Innovative Start-up: Potential Motors - Sam Poirier (BScME'19, M-TME'19), Isaac Barkhouse (BScEE'19, M-TME'19), Nick Dowling (BScME'18, D-TIME'18) and Michael Barnhill (BScME'18)
