"We’re either setting new standards or challenging every rule that’s held healthcare back—either way, we're amplifying our impact!"

That’s what CEO of Capture Therapeutics, Sascha Boulet-Devost (BScKin’09), says when she reflects on her entrepreneurial journey to reshape healthcare delivery and improve access in rural communities. Through their unique business model, Capture Therapeutics is driving a culture of transparency, attracting top talent and investing heavily in employee growth and development.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2024, the Capture Therapeutics hub is located in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, with three additional locations in Woodstock, Kedgwick and Truro, Nova Scotia. Along with a virtual vocational branch, there is also a fifth location on the horizon.

Offering services in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, kinesiology, and more, Sascha explains that their business model is centered on connecting each patient with the ideal practitioner in a space that is truly collaborative and ensures swift access to care.

“When I landed back home in Grand Falls after spending some years away, It felt as though every healthcare system surrounding me was built around encouraging waitlists and unethical compensation structures, which left the patient's needs as an afterthought,” says Sascha. “I started slowly creating what Capture Therapeutics is today, which was based on call-in and get-in to see someone, who can then direct you to the best team for your specific needs.”

For Sascha, running a sustainable business has come with a lot of learning, leading through transparency and making continuous changes to best serve the community. She says what’s most rewarding is allowing people to feel seen, heard and understood. This approach applies to their patients, but even more so to their employees. When their team feels supported and valued, they naturally extend that care to their patients.

Through a community engagement "Gratitude Project" created and led by an employee, Capture Therapeutics has provided over a quarter of a million dollars in free care to people who did not have access to care. They've utilized their own model to their advantage by giving back to the communities they serve.

"We’re here for the people. Running this business isn’t easy, and balancing it right takes real effort, but it’s about pursuing a passion. I've always said, if I can't make a meaningful impact on healthcare or provide employment that makes me proud, then it’s not worth doing. Go out and do what’s right, it’s that simple."

In her ten years as a business owner and pelvic physiotherapist, Sascha has grown her team of two to over 70, allowing them to service more people in multiple rural and urban regions. About half of Capture Therapeutics team is made up of Atlantic Canadians who have returned home to work, while the other half have moved to Atlantic Canada. Although recruiting and retaining employees to rural communities comes with its own set of unique challenges, Sascha has created an environment that heavily invests in their people’s development and drives growth to the region.

Through a structured, three-year mentorship program, Capture Therapeutics has attracted passionate and highly skilled professionals that also provides opportunity for personal and professional growth. The program, run out of their Grand Falls location, provides mentorship, leadership and entrepreneurial business skills.

"My goal was to create exciting, diverse career opportunities that foster growth and help people discover their passion. Our commitment is to further their leadership skills, develop and support them. We hope to simply instill in them the drive to carry forward this healthcare model, which delivers a true patient-centered approach."

Recognized in 2022, 2023, and 2024 by Atlantic Business Magazine as one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs, Sascha is certainly making her mark in healthcare, in business and in her home-community. She says it's an honour to be recognized by a magazine that celebrates and recognizes Atlantic Canadian businesses.

"We are often too humble as Atlantic Canadians and forget to celebrate the incredible journeys and businesses that exist here.”

As she looks ahead to the next few years of business, she says her focus will be on finding the right growth capital that will support the employees who are currently going through the three-year mentorship program and looking to launch their own clinics.

“It’s all about the long-term vision—building the right infrastructure to support the team, helping our employees reach their goals while ensuring every single patient who walks into Capture receives the care they deserve from the right professionals, but most importantly at the right time. Each member of our team plays a role and amplifies our impact.”
