Last summer, I turned fieldwork into action - collecting data, restoring habitats, and protecting the environment firsthand. I spent the summer working with the Kensington North Watersheds Association (KNWSA) as an Environmental Field Technician. My role focused primarily on habitat restoration, managing species at risk, and conducting various watershed assessments.

During the internship, I had the opportunity to work on two main projects: a Saltwater Marsh Restoration initiative aimed at extending and improving coastal habitats and a Tree Swallow Monitoring Program focused on tracking nesting activity and contributing to long-term wildlife research within the province.

This Master of Environmental Management (MEM) internship experience provided valuable hands-on learning in environmental fieldwork while reinforcing the importance of collaboration, adaptability, and stewardship in protecting the environment. It equipped me with the skills to collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data while contributing to meaningful restoration projects.

I would like to extend a special thank you to David, Ginny, and Josh at KNWSA for their guidance, support, and mentorship during this experience. I am looking forward to carrying the lessons and skills from this experience into future opportunities.
