Did you know reducing food waste can save families money and protect our environment?
Last summer, I had the opportunity to intern with the Fredericton Community Climate Hub as a Project Assistant for the Zero Household Food Waste Pilot Project. During my internship, I worked closely with participants across Fredericton to support household efforts in reducing food waste. Some of my key contributions included:
- designing and sharing weekly “Tips & Tricks” to help families cut down on food waste
- supporting community engagement activities such as surveys to gather feedback
Through this experience, I learned the importance of community participation and how small changes at home can add up to big impacts - saving families money while also reducing the amount of waste sent to our landfill.
I am deeply grateful to my supervisors Margo Sheppard, Renee Davis and Patrick Schilf for their guidance, encouragement, and feedback throughout this journey.
I look forward to applying this experience to my career as a Project Manager and continuing to drive initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable future.
