Forbes has announced their annual list of Canada’s Best Employers (2022), placing the University of New Brunswick as the second-best workplace in the country.
“Being named the second-best place of employment on Forbes’ Canada’s Best Employers list is a huge achievement for the entire UNB community,” says Dr. Paul J. Mazerolle, UNB's president and vice-chancellor. “Our students, staff and faculty have been our biggest motivators to stay strong throughout pandemic and we are pleased to offer them a great environment and benefits they can rely on.”
This year, the biggest winners were in the education sector, as schools accounted for four of the top 10 employers. Amongst all educational institutions on the list, UNB was ranked highest.
This is UNB’s second appearance on the Forbes top employers list.
Forbes partners with market research firm Statista to compile their list of top workplaces across the country by surveying more than 10,000 Canadians working for businesses with at least 500 employees.
The survey asked employees to rate on a scale of zero to 10, including how likely they are to recommend their employer to others. Statista then asked respondents to nominate organizations other than their own. The final list ranks the 300 employers that received the most recommendations.
UNB was also named as one of Canada’s Top Employers for 2022, as well as one of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers in 2021.
“At UNB, we strive to give our employees new opportunities to grow in their area of expertise and continue building a remarkable institution our community can feel proud of,” says Dr. Mazerolle. “I would like to personally thank those who participated in this year’s survey and everyone at UNB for helping us claim this profound achievement.”
