The University of New Brunswick is honoured to announce we have been named among Forbes Canada’s Best Employers of 2021, Canada’s Top 100 Employers of 2021 and Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers 2021.

UNB was the only university from Atlantic Canada to be included on all three lists.

“To be recognized on three top employer lists highlights the dedication and commitment of our talented faculty and staff," says Dr. Paul J. Mazerolle, UNB president and vice-chancellor.

“UNB’s success solely rests with the people who make up our university community working together.”

Forbes Canada’s Best Employers 2021

Forbes Canada’s Best Employers partners identify the top 300 employers that received the most recommendations and have persevered in these challenging times. UNB is the only Atlantic employer to crack the top 30.

Forbes surveyed 8,000 Canadians working for businesses with at least 500 employees to compile the ranking of Canada’s top employers.

Canada’s Top 100 Employers 2021

For the eighth time in nine years, UNB has been named to Canada’s Top 100 Employers featured in The Globe and Mail. The rankings are compiled by considering performance management, training and skills development, health, physical and family benefits, and community involvement.

From nearly 75,000 employers across Canada, 16,000 companies were invited to complete the process and provide detailed review of their operations and HR practices.

Some of the reasons that make UNB a top employer:

  • UNB helps employees plan securely for the future with contributions to a defined benefit pension plan and retirement planning assistance. Retirees stay connected through a dedicated Retired Employees Association, which provides a collective voice to the university.
  • UNB recognizes exceptional service over the span of a career.
  • UNB was quick to assemble and donate needed medical supplies to the provincial government early in the pandemic and encouraged members of the university community to keep active.

Atlantic Canada's Top Employers 2021

Not only was UNB selected as Canada’s Top 100 Employers, UNB has been named to the Atlantic Canada's Top 100 Employers list released by Atlantic Business Magazine. UNB has been named a top employer in Atlantic Canada for the ninth consecutive year.

After reviewing 1,000 businesses across the Atlantic provinces, the top 100 employers are recognized for leading their industries and offering exceptional places to work. The list is based on the same criteria as Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
