The 2019 UNB Saint John Undergraduate Business Case Competition will kick off on Jan. 17, marking its second year of providing students with opportunities to solve real business problems.
The competition gets underway on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 5 – 6 p.m. with the opening reception, sponsored by Gorman Nason Lawyers in the Whitebone Lounge at UNB’s Saint John campus.
On Friday, Jan. 18, nine competing teams will have the opportunity to solve unique business problems in a controlled environment for a total of 26 hours. This competition provides students with the opportunity to gain real-life experience by analyzing business situations and developing recommendations for the best course of action. The teams will present to a panel of business experts who will decide the winners.
UNB students and the greater community of Saint John are encouraged to attend the team presentations as a way to show support for New Brunswick’s future business leaders. The presentations are being held on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 1 – 5 p.m. in Oland Hall 206 and Oland Hall G31 on the UNB Saint John campus.
The top three teams will win cash prizes to split between the team members. The first-place team will receive $1,000 and eight floor seat tickets to a Saint John Riptide home game, tickets courtesy of Gorman Nason Lawyers. Second place will receive $500 and third place $250. All winners will be announced at the celebratory banquet being hosted by members of the local business community and the UNB faculty of business, on Saturday, Jan. 19, 6 – 8 p.m. in the Whitebone Lounge in the Thomas Condon Student Centre at UNB’s Saint John campus.
