Jennifer Sutherland Green (LLB'99) has a longtime connection to UNB and to the alumni community. Throughout her combined 14 years of volunteer involvement with both the Alumnae and Alumni Associations, she has become progressively more passionate about UNB. A proud law alum, she brings great commitment to her new role.
How did your engagement with UNB Alumni Council begin?
I first became involved as the president of the UNB Associated Alumnae Council, which is a group made up of women graduates and former students. I served on the Alumnae Council for nine years and have been a member of the Alumni Council since 2018.
What is the best thing about being an alum of UNB?
The best thing about being an alum of UNB is the sense of community that comes with being part of the university - and that you never know where you're going to meet another UNB grad!
How did your time as a student at UNB impact your life?
I went to law school at UNB, and it changed how I look at the world.
Can you share three words that best describe your time at UNB?
Motivating – Engaging – Eye-opening
What made you want to give back to UNB?
I am a firm believer in being involved in your community and volunteering for what is important to you.
What will be your priorities during your term as president? Are there any issues that you feel are the most important to address?
My priority will be looking at how we do things in this new reality where some people are anxious to get back out into the world and attend events while others still very much want to be involved but would prefer to engage virtually.
If you could share one message with our UNB community, what would it be?
To be proud of everything that UNB, its graduates and students have achieved and are achieving.
For you, what is the value of the UNB alumni network?
It is the immediate sense of connection that comes with meeting a fellow UNB grad for the first time.
