On International Women's Day, March 8, 2021, we celebrate all women, including these 10 incredible UNB alumnae who are changemakers and disruptors, and who #ChooseToChallenge.

While this is just a small sample of the great work being done by alumnae all over the world, we acknowledge the work of these women and celebrate the strides they have recently been making in their fields.

Member of Parliament for Fredericton and the first Green Party MP elected from New Brunswick.

Virginia Bliss Bjerkelund (BA'51)

Published author, publishing her first novel at the age of 91 with another book in the works.

Tomi Gbeleyi-Curtis (BA'13)

The first 20-something year old to launch a Canadian beauty brand for women of Colour.

Dr. Sarah Gander (BSc'00, MEd'16)

Clinical department head in the Saint John Regional Hospital's Department of Pediatrics, community advocate and researcher focused on the effects of poverty on the health of children and youth.

Victoria LaBillois (BA'91, MBA'04)

Urbantech and sustainability focused venture capital professional, and co-founder and investor in Sandpiper.vc, a women-led venture fund based in Atlantic Canada.

Dr. Samira Mubareka (BSc'94)

Microbiologist who was part of a Canadian team that isolated the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
