The 2019 Proudly UNB Awards will recognize six distinguished alumni, two honorary members and one alumni group at an award's dinner on April 5. In the short time since graduating from UNB, Krystle Steeves (BScKin ’05) and Kenneth Fox (BBA’07) have both taken the world by storm in their respective fields of physical therapy and finance, and will be celebrated with Young Alumni Achievement Awards for their outstanding service and accomplishments.
As a physical therapist, Krystle Steeves takes a child and family-centered approach to caring for her patients. Through extensive research and training on the ponseti method for clubfoot treatment, she established a clubfoot clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, AB. The clinic is one of only two therapist-led clinics in Canada, helping to reduce surgery wait times by providing long term casting and bracing treatments for children. Recognized for her contributions and expertise in pediatric rehab, Steeves was invited on three volunteer trips to Ecuador with the Canadian Association of Medical Teams Abroad (CAMTA) to perform orthopedic surgeries. Passionate about her career, she has raised $9,000 for CAMTA volunteer trips and has organized an annual picnic in celebration of International Clubfoot Day.
Kenneth Fox participated in the Fredericton business faculty's Student InvestmentFund (SIF) as a UNB student, which sparked his interest in a career in finance and introduced him to exciting opportunities in the investment industry. Throughout his 10-year career with TD Securities, he has worked in the firm's Calgary, AB; Toronto, ON; London, UK; and Houston, TX offices, most recently in the position of director of investment banking. Fox has continued to be a strong advocate for UNB, helping coordinate the firm’s attendance at the Futures Atlantic Symposium in 2016 and volunteering with UNB's Centre for Financial Studies as a mentor and guest speaker.
