Melora Cook has officially signed on to be a part of the Women's Volleyball team for the 2018-19 Varsity season. She comes from Bernice McNaughton High School which means she won't be travelling too far from home to attend UNB Saint John in the fall. In 2016-17 Melora received the MVP award for her volleyball team in high school and was on the Principals honors list from 2015-2018. During her tour of UNB Saint John she got a chance to practice with the Seawolves team and immediately saw how she would fit right in as a student athlete.
Melora has an immense passion for volleyball and it means a lot to her. "It's the type of sport that doesn't rely on one player, you need a whole team to come together and play well to succeed".
She is a big fan of the team support that volleyball promotes and how encouraging the atmosphere is. Volleyball has taught her the skills she needs to succeed not only as a player but as a person and her growth will continue once she hits the court with the team in the fall. She is passionate about volleyball for many reasons, "It has always been a major stress reliever, where I can go out and just play without having to worry about anything". Overall, she loves every aspect of the game. Aside from volleyball, Melora enjoys travelling, camping, hiking and working with kids.
Melora will be taking the nursing program here at UNB Saint John and she aspires to travel the world to help children. Recently she went to Kenya and worked at a summer camp for kids, she would love to go back and help them.
Coach Lauren Hale-Miller took an interest in Melora because of her strong technical skills and great work ethic. Melora has been a part of Volleyball New Brunswick's Elite programs and she was a referred player. Melora is a very calm player and will be very beneficial to the team moving forward. "Melora will add strong technical skill coming into our program and will continue to grow into a well rounded volleyball player".
Welcome to the Seawolves Family Melora!
