Tanner Hoyt has recently signed with the UNB Saint John Seawolves men's basketball program. He is set to hit the floor for the 2018-2019 varsity season and is ready to bring his skill to the next level.

The Saint John native has decided to stay in his home town to further his education and his basketball career. He was an NBIAA All Star for the 2017-18 year in addition to being an honor student in all four years of high school. He's been playing basketball since childhood and his love of it keeps him eager to continue working on his skills for competition. He enjoys meeting new people and has had tons of opportunities through his basketball career. Tanner chose UNB Saint John because it is close to home and feels that he will fit in really well with the men's basketball team and the coaches. In the fall Tanner will be taking the Computer Science program and has aspirations to work in the computer programming field. His hobbies include travelling, which he will get plenty once the season's road trips begin to compete against other ACAA teams. Tanner has grown up with great family values and parents that support him in all that he does. He has also had great coaching along the way.

Head coach of the Seawolves Men's Basketball team, Peter Vincent, has known Tanner for several years as a player at Saint John High School. He was able to watch Tanner develop his skill over the years, from a junior varsity player through to senior levels. Coach Vincent has seen constant improvement and progress in his game, "He has the physical and athletic skill to play at the next level but also has the mental perspective we want".

Coach Vincent noticed two major skills that stood out while seeing Tanner grow as an athlete, his athletic ability and his ability to shoot the ball.  "He is a solid defender and doesn't mind being physical as well.....he has a bright future ahead of him". Tanner is a great asset to the Greyhounds and Coach Vincent knows that will transfer over to playing for the Seawolves. "Tanner will bring a quiet tenacity to the team but also his ability to defend and his shooting range is certainly going to help us as well".

Welcome to the Seawolves Family Tanner!
