The UNB Saint John Seawolves have been leaving quite the impression on the UNB Saint John community lately. Ten lucky recipients were selected from the UNB Saint John campus to receive the Carl Fraser Student Award valued at $1,000 for their academic performance and involvement in extracurricular activities. Of those 10 selected, six students were varsity athletes here at the Saint John campus. Our athletics program is designed to not only strive for success on the court or field, but also to strive for success in the classroom and in activities outside of school that will help develop life skills. Our athletes work relentlessly to maintain high GPA's while practicing five times a week and competing on weekends. Without a doubt their success is noticed, but an award like this is always a kind reminder that the dedication you put in as student-athletes is meaningful and will help you out as you continue your education and beyond.
The Carl Fraser Student Award is awarded to Saint John campus full-time students who have completed at the least the minimum requirements for the first year. Recipients must demonstrate successful academic performance. Selection is based on involvement in student activities, university activities and/or community activities. Consideration may be given to financial need.
We would like to congratulate Blair Doull (3rd year, Men's Volleyball), Indigo Clement (3rd year, women's volleyball), Madison Howatt (1st year, Women's Basketball), Drew Robart (2nd year, Men's Basketball), Jennifer Cusack (3rd year, Women's Basketball), and Marcel Boudreau (2nd year, Men's Basketball) on all of their success thus far and we wish them well moving forward in their educational and athletic careers. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Carl Fraser (BBA 1974) for his contributions to the award.
