This Saturday, the UNB Saint John Men’s Rugby Team will travel to UNB Fredericton to face off for the Provincial Title. This past weekend, the Seawolves played Mount Allison University and ended up taking the match 5-0. There was lots of good competition on both sides, and showed the Seawolves what they need to work on heading into this Saturday’s championship match.
During their game against Mount Allison, the Mounties were short four players, so the Seawolves generously gave them four of their players so they could play the match. Head coach Sean Haughian had this to say about the camaraderie showed on the field, “good sportsmanship, it gave our guys more playing time – it’s what rugby’s all about! As coaches, we are really trying our best to cultivate this sort of attitude in our young players – winning and losing matters, but it matters more whether we work hard, show respect for each other and have fun. Here’s a video of one of the guys we all look up to in rugby, at his recent RWC win, demonstrating that same awesome rugby spirit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXg9PK02M0Q”
While the Seawolves were good sports to give some of their players to the other team, the story will be different this coming Saturday, November 7th at 2:00pm when they take on UNB Fredericton at College Field for the Provincial Championship!
