On October 4th, 2015 all six UNB Saint John Varsity teams set out to the streets of Saint John to volunteer for the CIBC Run for the Cure. The teams directed walkers and runners throughout the entire route, and were at the 3km mark to hand out water to the participants. On top of being university students, varsity athletes who train at least once a day, and living a normal social life; the UNB Saint John Seawolves find time in their busy schedules to help out in our community!
The initiative the Student Athletic Advisory Council has taken to enrich the student-athlete experience here at UNB Saint John is quickly reaching very high levels. The SAAC's commitment to helping out the community is also very present early on in the 2015-2015 season. The Saint John Run for the Cure committee was extremely impressed with the dedication, maturity, and kindness the Seawolves showed to all participants! The Seawolves were happy to be a part of the day that raised $111,049.49 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Seawolves are looking forward to the Think Pink Basketball and Volleyball games in January to add to their $526.50 pot that was raised at the Think Pink Soccer games. In January, the money will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation!
