About the partnership
UNB has partnered with the local non-profit charitable organization, Habitat for Humanity Restore. Not only does this partnership divert good-quality items that would otherwise end up in a landfill, but it also aims to provide a decent and safe living environment for all residents.

How does it help your community?
Habitat for Humanity ReStores are home and building supply stores that accept and resell quality new and used items. Purchasing items at a Habitat ReStore is a socially conscious decision, as funds generated are used to support local Habitat for Humanity homebuilding initiatives. It is an environmentally friendly decision as most items are new, gently used, or returned items that would otherwise end up in landfills.

Although every ReStore is different, each offers a unique shopping experience for those looking to add something new to their homes. The inventory is constantly changing, as new items are donated by local residents and businesses daily.

How can you help?
Only through the generosity of wonderful donors, partners, and volunteers can they build homes and hope for families who otherwise would not have a home of their own. You can help by:
- Donating, check out the 'Donations they accept' and 'Donations they reject' sections,
- Volunteering, or
- Support your local Habitat for Humanity Restore; new unique products are arriving daily!

Donations they accept
In most cases, they can provide charitable receipts! They accept new and gently used:

  • Appliances,
  • Furniture,
  • Doors and Windows,
  • Electrical, Plumbing, and Heating Items,
  • Flooring,
  • Hardware,
  • Housewares and Home Decor,
  • Kitchen and Bathroom Cabinets and Countertops,
  • Seasonal, Garden, and other Outdoor Items,
  • Tools,
  • Building Materials, or
  • Electronics (working or not).

Donations they reject
Due to safety concerns, they do not accept the following:

  • Mattresses or Box Springs,
  • Baby Car Seats,
  • Weapons and Ammunition, and
  • Tires and Automotive Parts.

Check out Habitat for Humanity Restore Saint John or Fredericton if you are unsure about your items!
