The Green Event Program provides and supports community members interested in hosting a sustainable event on campus. Whether small or large, events have a potential negative impact on the environment and people.
For example, events that include food tend to generate more waste compared to others. The Green Event program allows you to minimize potential negative impacts and showcase your commitment to sustainability which may inspire others to follow suit.
There are several factors to consider when planning a sustainable event. These include accessibility, energy efficiency, and waste reduction. To host a green event and become certified, you will be required to complete an application form that provides a set of actions within the following criteria:
- Planning,
- Communication and promotion,
- Transport and energy, and
- Food and dining & waste management

Step 3: Complete the criteria section by checking off all the mandatory actions as indicated. It also provides optional actions for those who would like to go the extra mile.
