For several weeks, we have watched the protests in Iran after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died in the custody of Iran's morality police on Sept. 16. Recently protests on university campuses in Iran were met with violence against students by plainclothes government police forces.
UNB stands with our fellow universities in Canada and around the world who have spoken up to express their deep concern about what is taking place in Iran. Universities are safe places where ideas and opinions should be met with critical thought and dialogue and never violence.
UNB is also committed to the need and urgency for a focused and collective commitment to stamp out violence against women and children everywhere.
