UNB’s Alumni News Magazine has featured a story about the Office of Experiential Education’s pilot program, Experience Upper River Valley.
In partnership with McCain Food Ltd. and various community partners, the project provided students with experiential learning opportunities that aimed to increase access to transportation and healthcare.
In phase 1 of the project, an interdisciplinary team of students conducted a needs assessment of transportation in the upper river valley by analyzing data from Statistics Canada and by visiting almost 30 communities in the area. Students were then able to recommend solutions to the major challenges facing these communities, and phase 2 of the project will look at how to implement these solutions.
This collaborative project is a distinct success story of how experiential education can make a difference in the lives of students and in our communities. For the whole story, visit the Alumni News Magazine.
