The University of New Brunswick’s faculty of management takes great pride in celebrating the partners who help shape the future of business education. At the 36th Annual Business Awards Dinner in November - the faculty’s most distinguished event honouring student achievement, alumni excellence and community support - Irving Oil was recognized with the Certificate of Appreciation for its exceptional commitment to experiential learning and student success. This recognition builds on a strategic partnership between UNB and Irving Oil that has spanned more than 10 years, strengthening opportunities for students and advancing shared priorities in talent development.

Experiential learning is a defining strength of UNB’s business programs. Through the Co-op program, students apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges, gaining confidence, building networks and often launching their careers immediately after graduation. This is possible because of partners like Irving Oil, who go beyond offering placements by mentoring students with care, sharing expertise and creating pathways for growth.

“Together, we celebrate a community committed to excellence and impact. Partners like Irving Oil provide opportunities, resources and real-world connections that empower our students,” said Dr. Paul J. Mazerolle, UNB President and Vice Chancellor.

Irving Oil has been named among Canada’s Top 100 Employers for ten consecutive years and stands out for consistently supporting BBA Co-op students. Each term, the company offers placements across diverse business disciplines, participates in orientation sessions and helps students bridge the gap between academic learning and professional expectations. Their inclusive approach supports students whether they have a clear career direction or are still exploring, often leading to full-time roles and long-term success.
