UNB celebrates 2025 Encaenia and Spring Convocation Ceremonies

From May 28-30, the University of New Brunswick (UNB) will honour students and distinguished faculty at its 2025 Encaenia and Spring Convocation Ceremonies.
UNB will celebrate the achievements of 1,871 graduates from across Canada and around the world. UNB is proud of the 1,414students receiving their bachelor’s degrees, the 424 earning master’s degrees and 33 achieving the highest level of academic achievement, the PhD.
Five valedictorians will address the Class of 2025.
Fredericton campus Valedictorians
- Nazila Ahmadi, Bachelor of Science in Biology
- Caitlin Grogan, Juris Doctor
- Sophie LeBlanc, Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology
- Tanzim Bint Abdul Majid, Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours)
Saint John campus Valedictorian
- Ogooluwa Ojo Abegunde, Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Student award winners
During the ceremonies, the presentation of notable awards will include: the Governor General’s Silver Medal, the Douglas Gold Medal and the Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick Silver Medals. These are the most prestigious honours awarded to graduates, and recognize exceptional academic achievement and leadership.
The Governor General’s Silver Medal: Patrick Talbot, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics, First Division
The Douglas Gold Medal: Katelyn Roger, Bachelor of Arts, First Class Honours
Thirteen students will receive Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick Silver Medals.
Fredericton campus recipients include: Jennifer Bell, Computer Science; Julia Belanger, Law; Elena Kurilova, Management; Tam Le, Nursing; Sophie LeGresley, Engineering; Kate MacGregor, Arts; Duncan Murray, Kinesiology; Emelie Pelletier, Forestry and Environmental Management; Emma Smith, Renaissance College; and Ariane Volpé, Science.
Saint John campus recipients include: Brandon Breau, Arts; David Johnson, Business; Liam McLellan, Science, Applied Science and Engineering. In addition, Liam McLellan will also receive the City of Saint John Award.
