UNB to grant six honorary degrees at spring graduation ceremonies

Six extraordinary individuals keeping history alive, changing the present and transforming our future, will receive honorary degrees from the University of New Brunswick (UNB) from May 15 to 17.

Fred Beairsto will receive an honorary doctorate of letters in Fredericton on May 16 at 2:30 p.m. A successful entrepreneur, humanitarian and Order of New Brunswick recipient, he has made significant community contributions and is a lifelong supporter of UNB.

Sandy Kitchen-Brewer and Earl Brewer will each receive an honorary doctorate of letters in Fredericton on May 16 at 10 a.m. As social activists, philanthropists, and community supporters, their activism and generosity have helped create a healthier, stronger New Brunswick.

Dr. Darrell Duffie will receive an honorary doctorate of letters in Fredericton on May 15 at 2:30 p.m. With his global contributions to the field of finance and economics, he is recognized as one of the most influential financial economists of his generation.

Dr. Hans S. Keirstead will receive an honorary doctorate of science in Fredericton on May 15 at 10 a.m. An internationally known neuroscientist and entrepreneur, he has made remarkable impacts in the field of regenerative medicine.

Dr. Margaret MacMillan will receive an honorary doctorate of letters in Saint John on May 17 at 2 p.m. She is an award-winning author, influential historian, emeritus professor of history at the University of Toronto and an emeritus professor of international history at Oxford University.
