The University of New Brunswick in Saint John has partnered with online student support platform Real Campus to offer 24/7 mental health services to its students.
The confidential, virtual advice platform offers professional support in all areas of university life, including mental wellness.
The resource can be accessed at any time of the day or night and is available to all students, regardless of their health plan. Where possible, services are also offered in students’ preferred languages.
Real Campus offers therapy, counselling, courses, tools and events to improve mental wellness, as well as career coaching, academic support, nutritionist support, legal support, online articles and forums.
“Our partnership with Real Campus allows students to get support beyond typical business hours,” says Sheldon MacLeod, director of Student Services. “They offer immediate virtual support to students experiencing a mental health challenge, but can also set those students up with in-person counselling here in the city as a follow up.
“As part of our holistic approach to serving students, we see this as an extension of our Student Services and we’re proud to make these services available to all students at the Saint John campus.
“The initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with students noting the comprehensive nature and accessibility of the program. We encourage anyone experiencing issues with their mental health to ask for help and Real Campus provides another way to do that.”
