The Office of Experiential Education (OEE) has created a free online platform for students to prepare for experiential learning, work, and more.

The UNB Plus modules are accessible through SharePoint, the same intranet resource students already use to access their student information and Microsoft web applications. Find our site: www.unb.ca/unbplus.

While these resources are designed for students, faculty and staff are welcome to make use of these resources. Instructors may opt to incorporate UNB Plus as part of their curriculum, as well – indeed, we recommend it!

UNB Plus provides learning and resources in the form of streams and modules which students can complete at their own pace. Users can select available modules in our Skills+, EDI+, Careers+, and Sustainability+ streams now – with more streams and modules coming soon.

Certificates are available for those who complete Skills+ and Sustainability+ modules alongside their normal in-classroom studies. Select modules for EDI+ and Careers+ are already available, with certificates for those streams to be available later.

Two certificates are currently available:

Skills+

  • Purpose of certificate: To develop skills for working and learning
  • Requirement for completion: All (12) Skills+ modules, which is ~12.5 hours of online learning
  • Get started now

Summary:

Artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and other advanced technologies are changing the modern workplace and shaping the workplace of the future. The skills that are in highest demand are those that technology cannot replicate – the human-centric skills of creativity, problem-solving, leadership, and more. These skills are essential for finding jobs, succeeding in professional environments of all types, and for personal growth.

This series of modules covers a variety of important skills. They can be completed independently or in the order they are listed. In either case, we recommend starting with the Introduction to Skills+ module, which provides an introduction along with information and tips for getting the most from these modules.

Sustainability+

  • Purpose of certificate: To develop an understanding of sustainability issues and additional skills for working and learning in sustainability
  • Requirement for completion: A mix of modules from Sustainability+, Skills+, and EDI+, which is ~12 hours of online learning

Summary:

The University of New Brunswick is committed to being environmentally sustainable, working toward the 2050 carbon-neutrality goal, and aspires to lead sustainability and environmental stewardship across Canadian universities. Sustainability means meeting today’s needs without compromising the needs of the future.

To achieve sustainability goals, we need leaders who understand the key issues and have a grounding in the skills and knowledge needed to make a difference and influence change. The following modules have been curated from our Sustainability+, Skills+ and EDI+ streams to create a co-curricular certificate to help you start your sustainability leadership journey.

When you have completed all the modules required for a certificate, the only other step is completing the certificate request form. Our office will review your progress through the modules, particularly your reflections – a core part of the curriculum.

After the review process from our office, we will email you your certificate. This can be included on your resume or CV, and will eventually be included on your Experiential Transcript, a feature coming soon to ExperienceUNB, OEE’s experiential learning platform.
