Anthony Mazerolle has officially signed with the UNB Saint John Seawolves men’s volleyball team for the 2024-25 varsity season.
Mazerolle joins UNB Saint John from Dieppe, New Brunswick. Throughout his volleyball career he played for Carrefour de L’Acadie and, as a student at Mathieu-Martin, his team won senior volleyball provincials as a junior team. Following that, he played in the U18 Elites and has been playing for the U18 Gravitron Volleyball Club for the last three years.
Playing volleyball since the age of 11 has always been an integral part of his life. “I’ve been playing this sport since I was little, and it’s something that I can always look forward to, whether it’s practice after school or a tournament on the weekend. “It’s something that I want to keep doing for as long as possible,” said Mazerolle.
Looking for a defensive player for the upcoming season, Seawolves men’s volleyball head coach, Dino Karatzios looks forward to the strength that Mazerolle will bring to the team. “His ability to pass and move quickly on the court is something we always look for, and for certain, something that can help the team with,” he said. “His passing technique is textbook, something you rarely see. Strong spin server and can play either libero or outside hitter,” Karatzios added.
Close to home and playing the sport he loves, Mazerolle will be studying Mechanical Engineering with a goal to start his own business in the future.
His biggest inspiration on the court is Yuji Nishida, a Japanese left-handed volleyball player who plays for the Panasonic Panthers men’s volleyball team. “Even though he’s short, he jumps to make up for it, and I admire his technique and body control,” he said.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Anthony!
