Transferring from St. Mary’s University, Powers is eager to play for his hometown in the upcoming season. “I look forward to working with the whole UNB Saint John organization and a team with championship potential,” he said.

“Ben adds a wealth of experience and offensive skill to a team that returns the bulk of our roster from last season," said Seawolves head coach Paul Vaughan.

On Vaughan’s radar since 2019 after Power's impressive showing as a freshman at Saint John High School at national championships, where he went up against some of the best young players in Canada, Vaughan is looking forward to adding more power to the team.

“The addition of Ben adds another big wing who can score off the dribble plus punish teams with catch-and-shoot kick-outs, making it extremely hard for defenses to focus on any one player," Vaughan explained.

In 2023, Powers received the Rothesay Netherwood School (RNS) Athletics-MVP Award, Athletics-Senior Team Gold ”R”, and was School Steward in addition to graduating with proficiency.

Growing up in his hometown of Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick, sports have always been a passion of his, especially basketball. “I have been putting countless hours and dedication towards basketball my whole life in my pursuit of excellence,” he said.

Power is taking psychology with hopes to work in the field and pursue his entrepreneurial goals.

In addition to his career goals, Power is hoping he can make a difference on the court this season. “I hope to be a leader on the team and help them on their way to an ACAA Championship” he said.

Welcome to the Seawolves family, Ben!
