Kaitlyn Brzezicki has officially signed with the UNB Saint John Seawolves women’s soccer team for the 2024 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) season.
Joining UNB Saint John from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Brzezicki's love for soccer runs in the family. Her brother and dad played the game while she was growing up, and she started playing on the field at the age of three.
“Soccer has given me an outlet and something to look forward to, whether it’s a big game or just going to practice and being around my teammates to help lighten my mood and allow me to focus my energy on one thing at a time and just being in the moment, “Brzezicki said.
Since then, she has many accomplishments to be proud of, including winning gold at provincials with BTB Soccer Academy U17 team and gold at Provincials with Powerplay FC women’s Division 1. Not only did Brzezicki play soccer growing up, but she also played three years of high school football as a receiver and kicker, where they won two junior city championships. Breaking barriers playing in a male-dominated sport, she made history at Bev Facey Community High by being the first female to play senior football and first female to get points in Division 1 football.
Academically, she has always been a strong student, maintaining a high standard, taking Advanced Placement (AP) Math, and maintaining honours.
She plans to continue her strong work ethic, taking a Bachelor of Science with plans to transfer to Health Science/Nursing and eventually pursuing a career in the medical field as a doctor.
Head Coach, PJ Ward, looks forward to adding Brzezicki to the roster this season and helping push the level of play.
“She never backs down from a challenge and will provide depth in the goalkeeper position,” Ward said.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Kaitlyn!
