Emily McManaman has officially signed with Seawolves women’s soccer for the 2024 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) season.
Joining the team from Riverview, New Brunswick, McManaman is bringing her fierce play to the team. Starting at the age of four, McManaman was on the field and eventually began playing competitively at the age of ten with the Riverview Soccer Association. During the 2023 season, she was named the most valuable player for the Riverview Royals Varsity team, and this year, she was named captain of her high school squad. "I am a very competitive person and I love the competition within the sport,” she said.
Graduating from Riverview High School, McManaman plans on pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing. “There is a severe shortage of nurses in New Brunswick, so I am hoping to become a nurse practitioner to alleviate some of the strain on the health care system, “she said.
In addition to her goals in the medical field, McManaman chose UNB for several reasons, including the look and feel of the University. “I chose UNBSJ for the small campus, amazing environment, great learning facilities, and the small community feel," she said.
McManan says soccer brings her family together, and it has always been an important part of her life. “My parents are my biggest supporters on and off the field and are at every game cheering me on, “she said.
Head Coach, PJ Ward, is looking forward to having McManaman as part of his backline this season. “She is very consistent in her 1v1 battles, and her experience from Riverview soccer, and competitive nature will serve the team well,” he said.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Emily!
