Seawolves women's varsity soccer team continues to grow, adding another recruit to the roster for the 2024 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) season.

Lydia Hebbs joins the Seawolves from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, graduating from Park View Education Centre.

Hebb's competitive nature comes easily as she is a multi-sport athlete and, in high school, participated in cross country, soccer, hockey, basketball, badminton, rugby and track and field, making rookie of the year in grade ten.

Although she keeps active, her true passion is soccer, playing club soccer with South Shore United since she was U13 at the AA level and more recently playing Division 1 soccer at Park View, winning regional medals with her team.

"Soccer is very important to me," said Hebb. "I play many sports, and soccer has always been my priority. "I feel at home when I'm on the field," she explained.

Looking for players who could help with the team's defence, Head Coach PJ Ward was impressed with Hebb's ability to improve play and provide opportunities for the team up front.

"Having her join our team will increase our defence composure and be more stable along the backline, Ward said."

Not only focused on the field but also on her future in accounting, Lydia is a driven student, achieving above 90% average all throughout high school.

Hebb will be taking the Business Administration program and looks forward to joining the team at UNB Saint John.

"I chose UNB Saint John for the opportunity to play soccer while furthering my education," Hebb said. "It was apparent after my visit that UNB Saint John was very welcoming and felt like home."

Welcome to the Seawolves Family, Lydia!
