Having played soccer since the age of four in her hometown of Miramichi, New Brunswick, Emma Comeau hopes to bring her years of experience to the UNB Saint John Seawolves women’s soccer team.

“I have played with the New Brunswick Provincial team in my U13 and U15 years and was captain during my first year,” Comeau said.

Comeau is currently a part of the Miramichi United Soccer Club and has played for multiple Division 1 leagues named top scorer and attained 28 goals in one season of Division 1 U18. She was also named MVP of her high school’s varsity soccer team last year and was co-captain and top goal scorer this year.

Joining the team and being at a new school is an exciting time for any student but can also be overwhelming. Comeau takes comfort in knowing that her sister Lauren, manager of the women’s varsity volleyball team at UNB Saint John, will be there to support her during her transition to post-secondary studies.

“My sister currently attends UNB Saint John, which provides comfort for this next step in my life,” Comeau said. “I love the small campus and class sizes and the welcoming atmosphere. “I have visited the campus several times and fell in love with it immediately,” she added.

A James M. Hill Memorial High School graduate and a high-achieving student, Comeau consistently maintained an average of 99% while in high school and earned an academic excellence award yearly. In addition to her academics, she is a 2024 Schulich Scholarship Nominee, which is considered one of Canada’s most coveted undergraduate STEM scholarships.

Comeau will be showcasing her academic strengths in the Bachelor of Science at UNB Saint John in hopes of pursuing a career in the medical field.

The Seawolves women’s soccer team is excited to welcome Comeau’s level of work ethic to the roster in the coming season.

“We were impressed with her consistent level of passing and soccer IQ as a midfielder,” head coach, PJ Ward said. “Emma understands where her players are on the field and where the ball needs to go, which makes her a threat in the middle of the field,” Ward added.

Welcome to the Seawolves Family, Emma!
