Ready to show competitors the talent in Saint John, Mitchell Neves has officially signed with the men’s Seawolves soccer team for the 2024 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) season.
Soccer success runs in the family for Neves, as his grandfather played professionally, ending his career in Vancouver. Neves is continuing the family legacy and has had a love for the game since the early age of two.
“No matter what, soccer will always be a part of my life, and I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to continue my life's work in becoming the best I can on and off the pitch,” Neves said.
Neves is no stranger to success in soccer, having won two Atlantic Championships with team New Brunswick. He has played for the Saint John Soccer Club since under 13 AAA and has been top goal scorer for the club, ranking top 3 in the league. Neves was also recognized as Most Valuable Player of his high school team after being a force on offence.
Taking that success into his studies, Neves has been an honour student throughout his time at Kennebecasis Valley High School and will be entering into the sciences at UNB Saint John, with plans to transfer to nursing after his first year.
“My aspirations are to work in the ER as a nurse. I want to grow and be able to support not only myself but also my family,” he explained.
Head Coach PJ Ward was highly impressed with Neve’s work ethic and ability on the field.
“Mitchell will battle for every ball and do the hard work that is required throughout the game, Ward said.” He has the potential to be the leader of the squad in the future,” Ward added.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Mitchell!
