Brenton joins the Seawolves from Tantallon, Nova Scotia as co-captain for the Halifax United Soccer Club (HCU). At a young age Brenton fell in love with the sport and has been making her mark on the field ever since. In 2018, she won the True Sport Grassroots Player of the Year award. The award goes to players in each region who best exemplify the True Sport principles: go for it, play fair, respect others, keep it fun, stay healthy, include everyone and give back. Brenton has played for the Nova Scotia Provincial U13 and U15 teams, and has been playing AAA soccer since U15, representing both Suburban and Halifax County United. In 2022, she participated in the nationals in British Columbia with the Suburban U17 AAA girls team securing fifth place.

“I am passionate about soccer because it has always given me a sense of comfort and somewhere I can be myself.  Being on the field is where I feel my happiest," she said.

After a welcoming visit to UNB Saint John's campus, Brenton knew this was going to be her new home away from home. “It gave me a sense of excitement to be on campus. I am very excited to be attending UNBSJ in the Fall,” she said.

Brenton will be studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Education with future aspirations to become an elementary school teacher.

Head coach, PJ Ward, looks forward to the level of play that Brenton will bring to the team.  “Jenna’s presence will increase the competition in midfield and is the right type of player to help our team be successful next season,” Ward said.

Brenton is excited to join the Seawolves and showcase her skills on the field crediting her dad for his unwavering support. “I have always said that soccer is my dad and I’s thing since he played as well,” Brenton said. “Still, after every single one of my games he is the first person I want to talk to, to know what he thought and what he thinks I did well and what I can do better.”

Welcome to the Seawolves Family, Jenna!
