The UNB Saint John Seawolves men’s soccer team continues to build their roster for the 2024 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) with the newest addition, Jackson Holmes.
Holmes joins the Seawolves from Surrey, Bristish Columbia, where he has played with the Fraser Valley Selects (Metro) team since 2020.
Holmes' love for the game and skills on the field have provided exciting opportunities over the years playing throughout the Pacific Northwest, Las Vegas, Texas and England where he completed a two-week summer residency with Macclesfield FC. Ready for his next adventure, Holmes is bringing his skill set to UNB Saint John. “Making such a big move across the country, it’s nice knowing that I will be more than just a number on campus. I also have never visited the East Coast of Canada and I am looking forward to exploring the Maritimes,” he said.
Holmes will be studying Bachelor of Science (General) with a goal to become a chemistry teacher.
Graduating from Clayton Heights Secondary in June, Holmes has kept a consistent 4.0 GPA throughout his high school years. He said his trainer, club coach, and dad have always pushed him to be his best. TJ Rensleigh, his private trainer, helped to form a strong work ethic and determination in him that he continues to bring to his gameplay. Connor MacMillan, his club coach for the last three years, took a chance by allowing him to switch from center back to striker, changing the course of his soccer career. And his dad, Duane Holmes, has always been able to encourage his growth both in academics and sport.
Looking ahead to the 2024 season, head coach PJ Ward says Holmes' hard work and determination make him a valuable addition to the team. "He loves to constantly put defenders under pressure," Ward said.
Welcome to the Seawolves Family, Jackson!
