With a new academic and athletic season approaching, a new recruit is welcomed into the Seawolves family. Janelle LeBlanc will be joining the Women’s Volleyball team and she is excited to get started. She is originally from Saint-Louis de Kent, New Brunswick, and she is thrilled to be moving to Saint John to pursue her passion for volleyball and to gain more independence. Janelle is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program and wants to become a teacher while also coaching her very own volleyball team.

Janelle has been heavily involved with volleyball ever since she was young. She started her volleyball career in kindergarten where she was playing mini-volley. She continued on to play on the Spikers Volleyball team where she was the starting left hitter and occasionally the right-side hitter. Janelle shared captain duties for her high school’s volleyball team (Mgr-Marcel-Francois-Richard High School) and had the opportunity to play both left and right-side hitter with Team New Brunswick.

She was awarded the All-Star player at Eastern Elite Championships and was named MVP at the U15 Provincials. She has won a gold medal on Team New Brunswick and at the U14 Provincials. Not only is she a star volleyball player, but she has also won multiple medals for track and field. She took home 2 gold medals in javelin throwing at Jeux d’Acadie and was a member of the Legions Championships in Quebec. Janelle was appointed Female Athlete of the Year for two years in a row for track and field. She is very talented both on the court and on the field.

“Volleyball is a way for me to push myself out of my comfort zone, have fun with my teammates and grow everyday” says Janelle.

Her coaches and teammates have helped her learn and improve as a player, while her parents have taught her to always work hard and to never give up. Janelle is excited to push herself to be the best volleyball player she can be. She is grateful that her parents gave her the confidence that she needed to be a member of the UNBSJ Seawolves Volleyball team.

Welcome to the Seawolves family Janelle!
