The New Brunswick Institute for Research, Data and Training (NB-IRDT) is seeking New Brunswick residents to join their Data and Research Committee (DRC) Working Group as Public Partners. NB-IRDT is a research and data institute that collects and uses data to carry out research that informs policymaking in New Brunswick.

About the NB-IRDT Data Research Committee

The NB-IRDT DRC serves an important role within the institute including:
• reviewing data access requests from researchers seeking access to administrative data, and
• reviewing data disclosure requests from researchers whose projects were previously approved to use administrative data.

We are seeking the public’s perspective in these review processes.

About this engagement opportunity

The Public Partners will join the DRC Working Group to review Data Access Requests, as well as the data disclosure requests prior to public release. Public Partners will attend regular meetings, which are typically held on the third Friday of every month. The meetings are currently held online. Public Partners will provide feedback from a public perspective on the use of public data for research related to a variety of topics including health and health care, education and training, immigration, and poverty reduction. No direct experience is necessary, but an understanding of public policy and/or administrative data would be very helpful. Ideally, citizen volunteers will be able to commit to two-year term with the option to renew for up to 3 consecutive terms, although this is flexible.
