Gwyneth De Vries

Dr. De Vries was born in Snow Lake Manitoba to Dutch immigrant parents and grew up in Nelson, British Columbia and competed internationally in freestyle skiing and nationally in long-track speed skating. Dr. De Vries obtained BSc (Biochemistry), MSc (Cardiovascular Physiology), MD degrees and orthopedic surgery training from the University of Calgary and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Canada) in 2001. In addition, Dr. De Vries have subspecialty certification in foot and ankle reconstruction from the University of British Columbia and biomechanics research fellow training at the University of Calgary Human Performance Laboratory. Dr. De Vries has also received the International Olympic Committee Sport Physician Diploma in 2018.

Dr. De Vries is a collaborator with various University of New Brunswick research groups on emerging topics in musculoskeletal care. She is also the clinical lead for Choosing Wisely New Brunswick Low Back Pain Imaging Initiative, a member of the NB Trauma Injury Prevention Subcommittee and a peer reviewer for international sport medicine and foot and ankle publications.

Currently, Dr. De Vries is an active clinical practice in Fredericton and a visiting specialist province-wide. Clinical interests are general musculoskeletal care with special emphases on disorders of the foot and ankle, chronic disease management affecting mobility and musculoskeletal injury in sport. Dr. De Vries is a sideline physician for varsity, minor and masters sport and for the performing arts.
