A former graduate student with the Department of English is setting her sights on a stop at York University, but it is just one of many on an incredible journey that has taken her around the world since graduation day here at UNB in 2007.

Emilia Nielsen began her journey in academia as a Master of Arts student at UNB, where she completed her degree requirements within the Creative Writing program and is now looking to settle in one spot for now, having recently accepted a tenure track position with York University which will commence in the summer of 2018.

Inbetween her time as an MA student at UNB and up until she begins her new journey at York, Emilia has travelled the world following her passion of creative writing.

After defending her PhD from the Social Justice Institute at the University of British Columbia, Emilia was a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow at Quest University in Squamish, BC. Emilia then made the move to full-time Instructor in the Department of Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Alberta. Currently, she is a Visiting Scholar at the Canadian Literature Centre at the University of Alberta, and will travel to Berlin this spring, to take up a Visiting Scholar position at the Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin.
