The facility, which had been under construction since 2013, was officially reopened on Tuesday morning with a visit from UNB President Eddy Campbell. Located in Head Hall on the Fredericton campus, the refurbished Data Centre is equipped with modern cooling systems, networking and data storage, as well as fully redundant power to further reduce the risk of a disruption to UNB IT Services during events like an extended power outage. The state-of-the-art facility also has an increased capacity, opening the doors to exciting new opportunities for IT services at UNB to come. In addition to hosting UNB’s IT services, the Data Centre also hosts ECN shared services, including Sharepoint and core networking equipment that connects NB/PEI higher-ed institutions to the rest of the Canadian research and education community. Check out the full story in the UNB Newsroom to learn more. Stay tuned for more details on this grand achievement.
