With millions of devices at risk due to StageFright, phone manufacturers are working quickly to create software updates that will protect devices from this threat. Many of these updates are already available, while others are scheduled to be released in the coming weeks.phone

Eager to find out if there is an update available yet for your Android?

TELUS has a forum that lists the target release date for the update for most Android device types, from the LG Nexus 4 to the Samsung Galaxy S6. Check it out to see when your device’s update will be available.

Has the update for your device already been released? Make sure it’s installed on your device by following these 6 easy steps:

  1. Open the Settings menu on your device.
  2. Tap About.
  3. Tap System Update.
  4. Tap Check for Updates.
  5. Tap Download if an update is available.
  6. Tap Install when the update is finished downloading.

If your device’s manufacturer has not yet released an update to fix the StageFright vulnerability, check out last week’s tidBiTS post on how to protect your phone in the meantime.
