On Wednesday, July 9, ITS initiated an automated upgrade to all UNB-owned Windows 7 Computers for UNB’s Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

Why we did this:

The Kaspersky upgrade is part of an overarching initiative to better secure UNB systems and data against computer viruses and malware.

How does it affect you?

You should notice no performance issues from Kaspersky being installed and running. It will perform its updates automatically and scan your system for viruses and malware with no impact to you or your work.

Our objective:

The objective of this project is to increase the number of UNB owned computers having a managed protection product in place, thereby increasing the security of our systems and data. Your cooperation in achieving this objective is greatly appreciated.

What about Mac OS?

Mac OS X systems are not immune. This initiative also concerns Mac OS X systems and ITS has been working with Level 1s and PCS in Saint John to install Kaspersky to those systems as well.
