Three appointments at UNB Fredericton

Dr. George MacLean, vice-president academic (Fredericton), is pleased to announce that the University of New Brunswick has appointed three exceptional individuals to leadership positions on the Fredericton campus.
Mr. Ian Allen, executive director, College of Extended Learning, was reappointed to this position for a five-year term beginning May 12, 2018. For 20 years, Mr. Allen has served CEL in different capacities including director of distance learning and off-campus services, director of business development, and executive director.
Dr. Paul Howe, professor of political science, has been appointed acting dean of Renaissance College and will commence a one-year term on July 1, 2018. Dr. Howe joined UNB Fredericton’s faculty of arts in 2001. His current teaching areas include comparative politics, Canadian politics, Quebec politics and research methods.
Dr. Gary Saunders will commence his reappointment as acting dean of science on July 1, 2018, for a one-year term. Since 2003, Dr. Saunders has been a research professor at UNB. As a marine biologist, Dr. Saunders’ research focuses on merging fields of traditional and molecular systematics to build a comprehensive picture of algae evolution.
Each leader brings experience and passion to their roles. These individuals contribute greatly to our university and help us maintain a high level of excellence on our campus.
