The International Student Advisor’s Office at the University of New Brunswick is hosting its first World of Talent showcase, tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 21.
World of Talent will include performances from singers, dancers, musicians and more – all students who have come from around the world to study at UNB’s Fredericton campus.
“We decided to host the event to showcase the many talents that our international students bring to our community. We hope to make this an annual event that gets bigger every year,” says Nancy O’Shea, director of UNB’s International Student Advisor’s Office.
Diane Makulenzky, a UNB student from France, will be showcasing her vocal talents.
"I love singing. I participated in a talent show back in France, at Rennes, and I loved every moment of it,” she says. “I know it will be really great here with my fellow international students and it is a good way to meet new people, like my duet partner. It will be an incredible experience for me to bring home."
World of Talent will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday at Marshall D’Avray Hall, 10 Mackay Dr.
Admission for the show is by donation, with all proceeds going to the United Way Central N.B. In addition to donations received from admissions, a 50/50 draw will be held.
Ms. O’Shea emphasizes the importance of showcasing the diversity that exists at UNB. She encourages all members of the Fredericton community to attend the event.
“This is a chance for all staff, faculty, students and the Fredericton community to see another facet of our international community. It is a unique opportunity to enjoy great entertainment representing 11 different countries.”
