For the fifth time in six years, the University of New Brunswick has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
The Globe and Mail announced the top 100 list for 2018 yesterday.
UNB is one of five Canadian universities on the list, and is the only Atlantic Canadian university recognized.
“We’re so pleased to be named as one of the country’s top employers again this year,” says Eddy Campbell, president of the University of New Brunswick. “Our reputation as a leading employer allows us not only to keep our talented workforce but to recruit some of the best people in the nation and abroad.”
“Having great employees is what allows us to be one of Canada’s top comprehensive universities year in and year out.”
More than 7,500 organizations of all sizes were invited to apply for recognition as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. UNB was chosen in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Among the reasons UNB made the top 100:
- The university is dedicated to improving environmental sustainability on campus and maintains an Institutional sustainability plan that outlines goals, targets and measurements;
- UNB helps employees plan securely for the future with contributions to a defined benefit pension plan and retirement planning assistance – retirees can also stay connected through a dedicated retired employees association, which assists members with health benefits and related concerns, and provides a collective voice to the university;
- UNB employees receive full tuition subsidies for courses related and indirectly related to their current position.
