Update on UNB water main break and boil water order

A water main break occurred at UNB on March 27, impacting several buildings on campus.
The Print Shop at Marshall d’Avray Hall will be closed until further notice, however all other offices and buildings have reopened with a Boil Water Order in effect until further notice.
Boil Water Order
A boil water order has been issued by the Department of Health and is in effect for the following buildings. This is standard procedure and a regulatory requirement.
- Aitken University Centre
- Marshall d'Avray Hall
- J. B. O'Keefe Centre (St. Thomas University)
- Vanier Hall (St. Thomas University)
- George Martin Hall - hot water only (St. Thomas University)
Boil Water Order Information (provided by NB Department of Health)
- All water destined for drinking, preparing infant formulas and juices, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking and dental hygiene should be held at a rolling boil for one minute.
- Unless advised differently by the Department of Health, under most circumstances it is not necessary to boil water used for other household purposes.
- Adults, adolescents and older children may shower, bathe or wash using tap water, but should avoid swallowing the water. Toddlers and infants should be sponged bathed and caregivers need to ensure no water is drunk or swallowed.
- Dishes and laundry may be washed in tap water, either by hand or machine, unless advised differently by a Department of Health representative.
Signage has been posted on the affected buildings.
