Dear Members of the UNB Community:

I would like to begin by expressing condolences to the families of those fatally shot and injured in the recent attack on a Quebec City mosque. We live in an open and inclusive society and acts of terror such as this severely compromise our collective sense of security.

UNB remains firmly committed to diversity, inclusion and equity in our institution. Our country is a global leader in safety, freedom, and education with a long-standing history of welcoming newcomers.

I would like to express my full support for the concerns raised by Universities Canada in their recent statement issued regarding an executive order signed last Friday by U.S. President Donald Trump, which would prevent individuals from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States for 90 days.

We realize that this ban will have an impact on many of our UNB community members through international studies, academic conference participation, and in some cases, the family relationships of our university students, faculty and staff.

Our campuses provide strong networks of support services for our international community members. Those who may possibly be affected by the travel ban are reminded that the following services and resources are available:
