A UNB staff member has received an award for her contribution to student employment and development in New Brunswick.
Anne Soucy, director of the Career Development and Employment Centre at UNB, received the Award of Merit from the Atlantic Association of College and University Student Services (AACUSS) at its annual conference on May 26.
The Award of Merit is the highest honour given by the AACUSS. It recognizes a member for their significant achievement and distinguished contribution to the development of student services in Atlantic Canada. The recipient must also actively participate in the association, such as long-standing attendance at annual conferences, facilitating workshops, and giving presentations.
Ms. Soucy fits the award critera well. She has been deeply involved with AACUSS for more than 20 years, dedicating her time to the field of student employment and career development.
Ms. Soucy has also served on both the regional and national boards of the Canadian Association of Career Educations and Employers, the New Brunswick Career Development Action Board, the Multicultural Association of Fredericton, and is a founding member of the Fredericton Chapter of the Human Resource Association of New Brunswick.
“Anne is a go-getter. She makes things happen and our students and our profession is all the better for her commitment and involvement,” said Sara Rothman, senior director of academic success for student services at UNB.
As past president of the association, Ms. Rothman had the honour of presenting Ms. Soucy with the award.
Ms. Soucy is retiring from her role in June.
